Marriage, according to A Slightly Better Wife

Dear Debbie

Butthole Wife

I just read thee very best blog post!  I shared it on my Facebook Page, but I wanted to share a link to it here too.  It's written by Debbie Wilkins Baisden, and titled Stop Being a Butthole Wife.  Her words and perspective really hit home. Dear Debbie,  Thank you for telling it like it ...

Mr. Awesome Teaches Preschool, Post Christmas Normal, and Other Ramblings

It's 2 days post Christmas.  We had our last Christmas celebration of the year here yesterday.  The decorations are off the tree, the stockings have been stored away, and we're getting things back to "normal". My husband works hard all year long, and takes a few extra days off around this time ...

Craving Calm

A Highlight From My Day: When Mr. Awesome came home from work we all sat around the table eating pistachios and coloring for the bank's coloring contest (even though I'm pretty sure the kids won't be finished in time to turn them in by tomorrow's deadline, it was still fun). The kitchen needed ...

Making Time for Him

You can read a lot about being intentional with your children.  You can read a lot about the importance of devotional time and time spent in prayer. But you know what I think there isn’t enough info about?  Intentional time with your husband.  As wives and mothers we can get so busy ...

Our Adoption Story: We are His, and He isn’t finished with us yet.

For years I have wanted to articulate our adoption story on this blog.  I’ve wanted to present it in a way that is respectful to my husband, and respectful of his past.  I’ve wanted to share it in a way that would never waiver or damper the cheer and love our daughter expresses on a daily ...

Serve Your Spouse Well

Let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:18   It’s been a long day.  The little ones are *finally* asleep and I’m sitting on the couch eating ice cream, clearly thinking only of myself and what a day I’ve had. There he is, my dear sweet husband.  ...

Celebrate Absolutely Everything

Abundant goodness can still be found, even in the storm. It may not always seem apparent, but there is always something there to celebrate.

Someone once told me "You guys celebrate everything!" At first I took it offensively, thinking we were being too frivolous or something.  I mean, we probably were. Then I realized it was most likely a harmless comment that I instead chose to interpret as "Man, those people know how to always ...

12 Years Ago Today

12 Years Ago Today I Met The Man I'd Marry

12 years ago today I met this boy, and soon after he made me a wife and a momma. Man, we were just babies back then! We had no idea how incredibly hard life was going to be; how we'd have to lay his mom to rest after her battle with cancer, how many other funerals we'd attend, how many ...

Looking Through Glass is Tricky, Isn’t It?

It’s my hope that you too are able to SLOW down, cut the busyness and start enjoying life to the fullest extent that it was meant to be enjoyed to.

Have you ever watched someone out a window and guessed what they’re doing or saying only to find out you’re completely wrong? Ugh, I sure have! Last fall I walked by our sliding door that looks out into the backyard.  I knew my husband was weeding the garden and my son was playing with his ...

My 30th Birthday Recap

What a great day!  And not because we did anything spectacular for my 30th, but because we spent it together.  I’m a celebrate absolutely EVERYTHING  kinda gal, and I always chose to celebrate BIG. For some reason lately, I’ve found myself praying that I’d learned how to slow down.  I’m learning ...

I have always had a desire to live simple while striving to be more intentional and working to do things slightly better than I did the day, week, month, or year before.

I appreciate putting more emphasis on people and experiences, than material things.  I attribute this to my {mostly} unplugged childhood.

I was born in Minnesota and after moving to Iowa I was able to go back for well over a decade to visit with my grandparents in the same home that my parents brought me home to as an infant.  As a child I loved hearing my Grandpa Link tell stories and adored spending time in the kitchen learning from my Grandma Edna. I believe those admirable character traits of my grandparents are woven into the fibers of who I am today.

My husband and I met 4 days after my 18th birthday, we were just friends for only a week before deciding dating and ‘forever’ were in our plans.

Together we built our dream home on the edge of town where we are creating our modern city-life homestead while we raise and homeschooling our four children.

I love sharing pieces of our life with hopes of inspiring you to live slightly better too!

Welcome. ♥ I am SO glad you’re here!

Welcome! I am so glad you're here! I'm Quincey. I'm a wife and homeschool mom in the great state of Iowa. I'm passionate about bringing a little Jesus and practical encouragement to the tired moms of the world. I drink massive amounts of coffee and worship often to help me on this journey.
