3 Reasons Why Homeschool Moms Love the Public Library

Here are the top 3 reasons why Homeschool Moms LOVE the Public Library.

Okay, maybe I don’t know why ALL homeschool moms love the library, but here are the top 3 reasons that THIS homeschool momma loves the library. It sparks my children’s creativity. They can browse through books and learn about things they may not have otherwise been interested in.  Like a couple ...

Craving Calm

A Highlight From My Day: When Mr. Awesome came home from work we all sat around the table eating pistachios and coloring for the bank's coloring contest (even though I'm pretty sure the kids won't be finished in time to turn them in by tomorrow's deadline, it was still fun). The kitchen needed ...

When Super Mom Screws Up

I had it on my calendar that my kiddos had their yearly physicals at 8:30am this Monday morning.  I'm one of those crazies that loves the earliest appointment possible.  Not because we're great at getting ready & out of the house as the sun rises, but because I figure there are fewer germs first ...

Our October Sweetie turns 4!

Happy 4th Birthday to this mostly sweet & a little spunky, coffee drinking, Jesus loving, stylish little girl! I am blessed to be YOUR momma. Through your actions you teach this world to face their fears, love deep, and smile often. Never change.  Never lose your confidence, never believe ...

Be Ever Blooming

What if we all decided we would bloom where we were planted? What do you think that would look like?

These once-upon-a-time dying greenhouse plants and 2/$1 seed packets from Dollar Tree have bloomed right where they were planted in my little backyard flowerbed. I didn't know if they'd turn out.  This was my first year planting flowers on this kind of scale.  I've done small pots by the house ...

Making Time for Him

You can read a lot about being intentional with your children.  You can read a lot about the importance of devotional time and time spent in prayer. But you know what I think there isn’t enough info about?  Intentional time with your husband.  As wives and mothers we can get so busy ...

The Joy of the Morning

You may have read that title and decided you’d just pass on this post. I get it.  Joy in the morning?  Who says that? Now granted, as a homeschool mom we typically aren’t doing the mad rush of getting everyone up, dressed, fed, and out the door with everything they need for the day within an hour ...

Teaching From Rest ~ Get The Audio Book For UNDER $5!

Last week, into the weekend, and now this week too I have been listening to the audio book Teaching from Rest, by Sarah Mackenzie. My first adult audio book was 1,000 Gifts several years ago.  I was able to download it for just a few dollars and I plugged away at it while walking on the treadmill ...

Hey Friend! I am truly so glad that you’re here today!

At A Slightly Better Wife, I share about faith, homemaking, homeschooling, and marriage—along with my passion for creating a non-toxic, intentional home. Life isn’t about perfection, but I believe in making small, meaningful choices each day to do things slightly better than before.

My love for simple living and homemaking was deeply shaped by my grandparents. I have the best childhood memories of being in the kitchen with my Grandma Edna, learning the beauty of home-cooked meals and a well-tended home. My Grandpa Link’s storytelling and wisdom instilled in me the value of faith, family, and slowing down to listen during the little moments that make life rich. Their influence is woven into who I am today and I’m so grateful for that.

I’m a wife, a momma of 5, and a homemaker at heart. My husband and I met young, just days after my 18th birthday, and we quickly (like within a week) knew that forever was in our plans.

Together, we built our home on the edge of town, where we’re raising and homeschooling our children while embracing a simple, purposeful life in the city.

Here, you’ll find encouragement for your marriage, practical tips for homemaking, and inspiration to cultivate a home filled with faith and love. Whether you’re looking for a recipe, a fresh perspective, or just a place to feel understood, I hope you’ll stay awhile and explore.

Let’s pursue slightly better together!
