Sibling Love

This boy. He is so sensitive, compassionate, animated, and full of adventure. I love the way his big sister smiles and listens to his stories, allllll of his great big stories. Man, she listens so well to him. Tonight the story is of what it felt like as he took his impromptu first ...

Together

You guys, I can't even tell you how much my soul needed a laid back night like this.  Take-out supper under the golden sun, next to the ballfields.  Children laughing, no dishes to wash, a husband racing his kids, smiles, fresh air, grass under my feet, the perfect scenery to the East, all of it was ...

Homeschooling When Mom is Busy

I've been in a season busy lately.  Homeschooling is one of my top priorities, along with nurturing and caring for my husband and children.  Knowing this, I try to be very intentional with each moment with my family. However there are occasionally full days when I have meetings, conference calls, ...

Tea & Crumpets, or Whatever

It's a Tea & crumpets kind of day.  Well okay, here it's more like water and donuts. I just wanted to give you another visual of my favorite soapbox, which is: "Do what works for you". God created us each unique with our own gifts, talents, and interests. You do you, I'll do me.  Together ...

The Simplest Of Toys Are Often The Very Best

When it comes to gift giving, sometimes we go to extremes looking for the perfect toys for our kids, or their friends. I'm here to say GIFT GIVING SHOULD NOT BE STRESSFUL. Don’t underestimate the entertainment and joy of a simple rubber ball. There are no batteries to be replaced, no tunes ...

What Should I Take to a Blog Conference?

I’m attending my first Blog Conference next weekend, and I already started thinking a few weeks ago about what I would be bringing with me (aside from my usual necessities, which are my cell phone, a good lip balm, and some cash). I don’t want to take too much stuff with me that I feel like I’m ...

God Loves You, and I Love Ice Cream

I asked her "What should I write about this picture?" To which she immediately replies: "GOD LOVES YOU, and *I* love ice cream!" Some days we need reminded that God loving us really is all that matters. I'm so grateful to have this sweetie in my life who never let's me forget how much God ...

Wise Words Wednesday: Full Honesty

When my husband comes home today I am going to be very careful to tell him “I made banana bread today”, not “I made a loaf of banana bread today”. I know there is only one loaf on the counter, so the second sentence seems accurate, but in fact I made 4 loaves. One just plain disappeared, ¾ ...

Hey Friend! I am truly so glad that you’re here today!

At A Slightly Better Wife, I share about faith, homemaking, homeschooling, and marriage—along with my passion for creating a non-toxic, intentional home. Life isn’t about perfection, but I believe in making small, meaningful choices each day to do things slightly better than before.

My love for simple living and homemaking was deeply shaped by my grandparents. I have the best childhood memories of being in the kitchen with my Grandma Edna, learning the beauty of home-cooked meals and a well-tended home. My Grandpa Link’s storytelling and wisdom instilled in me the value of faith, family, and slowing down to listen during the little moments that make life rich. Their influence is woven into who I am today and I’m so grateful for that.

I’m a wife, a momma of 5, and a homemaker at heart. My husband and I met young, just days after my 18th birthday, and we quickly (like within a week) knew that forever was in our plans.

Together, we built our home on the edge of town, where we’re raising and homeschooling our children while embracing a simple, purposeful life in the city.

Here, you’ll find encouragement for your marriage, practical tips for homemaking, and inspiration to cultivate a home filled with faith and love. Whether you’re looking for a recipe, a fresh perspective, or just a place to feel understood, I hope you’ll stay awhile and explore.

Let’s pursue slightly better together!
