Deep Gratitude: The Guitar

Deep gratitude. My heart is so very full of gratitude.Back story: As many of you already know, less than a year ago I was incredibly sick. For months I went to bed not knowing if I'd live another day. The pain was excruciating both mentally and physically. The trauma our family endured from ...

Decluttering: Pretty + Peaceful Spaces

I’ve shared a lot about my passion for decluttering and curating pretty + peaceful spaces.  The mission is really two-fold. It started as a side hustle to earn money for a big beautiful built-in-looking refrigerator someday.  Oh, how my ambitions have changed as life has gone on! Haha!  I ...

Are You Reacting To The Life Around You, or Are You Creating The Life You Long For?

Check-in time, how are you?  Really, how are you doing?  Good or bad, drop a message in the comments, or message me through any of my social channels.  I love hearing from you. Every day we are bombarded with so much information through our phones, TV, the newspaper, etc.  Yes, we still ...

The Eyes to See…

There's something sacred to me about backyard time with the family. Tending our garden, admiring the flowers blooming in the bed, watching the littles dig in the sandbox, and sometimes joining them myself. Snacking on the freshest fruits of my husband's labor in the garden, smelling the fire ...

Two Things: Homeschool Uniforms & Nature Study

Two things:First thing: We're trying casual uniforms in our homeschool. This may sound strict when read on a blog post, but I assure you my middle kids ASKED for this. They love all things fashion and thought it would be a lot of fun. I can tell you this, it has made mornings smoother, and ...

Mindset & Attitude

As a young bride I thought homemaking meant having the children dressed well and supper on the table at 6 pm for my husband, doing the shopping for wedding, birthday, and Christmas gifts, signing all the cards, and changing out seasonal decorations. What I've learned over the years that I've been ...

Recipe: Graycie’s Cinnamon Almond Cake

My youngest daughter, age 8, often comes to me with the sweetest smile and asks "can I create a recipe, momma?"Without giving it a thought, my honest response today was "yes, but only if you clean up the kitchen when you're finished".I wanted to say "no", because of the messes that get made, but I ...

17 Years Ago Today

It was a Friday evening 17 years ago today, that at barely 18 years old, I hopped in my green Camaro with my big brother and drove to his friend's house for a quick visit. It was there that I'd meet the man that would become my husband, and his sweet + spunky one year old daughter (that I thought ...

A decade of learning together

I would sum up the last decade of teaching our children at home like this: Homeschooling is simply beautiful. Watching our children gain an interest in the world around them and study the plants and life that God created is a joy. 💕 Yes, there are hard days, math tests filled with tears, and ...

Do The Thing First

I'm not into working out.  Well, okay, at least not in the traditional way. Elementary gym class as a kid with #erbspalsy made "exercise" a pretty traumatic thing that has taken way to long to just get over. So what I am into is gentle movements on my vibration plate, walking, and worshipping ...

Yoto Player Product Review

One thing I have always been passionate about is limiting screen time with our children. This is ironic to me, as I have spent a great deal of my adult life consulting for and managing social media accounts, as well as sharing bits of our life on different online platforms in hopes to encourage ...

Prime Day Deals of 2021

I bought a Kindle Paperwhite back in May and I have been in LOVE with how improved the screen is on this compared to the Kindle Fire that I was using. This is strictly a reading device, not for gaming. With that in mind, it is so much easier to read this screen, even in full sun (as pictured). I ...

How to Make a DIY Balloon Garland

A {Slightly Better} Father’s Day Gift Guide

Food- Food is life-giving for everyone in this house.  Homemade cookies are a nice way to show appreciation and let dad know that you think he is a “smart cookie”. <-- See that? Dads aren’t the only ones with jokes!  No time to bake?  That’s okay, just put something from the store into a mason ...

My Sweet Girl is a Full Adult! Say What?!

What would you tell your child as they prepare for adulthood? Our oldest daughter is now a full-blown adult and has graduated from our homeschool. Moms of littles, I often tell you to rest and take it slow. Well, today I'm tellin' ya, don't blink! Soak it all in. I had thought by this ...

Why I Bought a Vibration Plate

Hey Friend! I am truly so glad that you’re here today!

At A Slightly Better Wife, I share about faith, homemaking, homeschooling, and marriage—along with my passion for creating a non-toxic, intentional home. Life isn’t about perfection, but I believe in making small, meaningful choices each day to do things slightly better than before.

My love for simple living and homemaking was deeply shaped by my grandparents. I have the best childhood memories of being in the kitchen with my Grandma Edna, learning the beauty of home-cooked meals and a well-tended home. My Grandpa Link’s storytelling and wisdom instilled in me the value of faith, family, and slowing down to listen during the little moments that make life rich. Their influence is woven into who I am today and I’m so grateful for that.

I’m a wife, a momma of 5, and a homemaker at heart. My husband and I met young, just days after my 18th birthday, and we quickly (like within a week) knew that forever was in our plans.

Together, we built our home on the edge of town, where we’re raising and homeschooling our children while embracing a simple, purposeful life in the city.

Here, you’ll find encouragement for your marriage, practical tips for homemaking, and inspiration to cultivate a home filled with faith and love. Whether you’re looking for a recipe, a fresh perspective, or just a place to feel understood, I hope you’ll stay awhile and explore.

Let’s pursue slightly better together!
