Welcome to A Slightly Better Wife! I am SO glad you are here!

Hi, I’m Quincey, the heart behind A Slightly Better Wife. I’m a Christian homemaker, homeschooling momma of FIVE, and wife to Mr. Awesome, the guy I met at 18 and decided within a week that I never wanted to spend another day apart from him. We’ve grown up together, and thankfully, through the good and challenging seasons, we’ve grown closer than ever to each other, and to the Lord.
Life here is simple yet so full. I believe in making small, meaningful choices each day to do things slightly better than I did before.
Faith & Family
First and foremost, I am a child of God. My deepest peace comes in the quiet moments spent with my Bible in hand, soaking in His word. Life has given us much to praise, but also so much to mourn. I crave moments snuggled up with a 100% cotton blanket diving into scripture to guide me and bring me peace. Through loss and heartache I have chosen to believe that God is still good, and that He is always faithful. I pray you know that you have that choice too.
Our young love grew fast. It wasn’t too long before we were looking at homes and putting down roots in the Midwest. We built our dream (at the time) home on the edge of town, where we are still residing while we raise and homeschool our children.
I was always a go big or go home & grand gestures kind of gal, but as I’ve matured I have found a beauty in embracing a simple and intentional life that isn’t too much, but more than enough. Living a quiet life with my family makes me happy, and being able to inspire others through a screen and meet them where they need me, any time of day, offering advice and companionship gives me drive and additional purpose.
I once imagined having ten children, and I told my husband this when we were just dating. Ha! And he STILL asked me to marry him! He was apprehensive, but also committed to giving me anything my heart desired. I first became a momma through (step-parent) adoption, then had a baby boy 10 days before our 1-year wedding anniversary. I thought our family would grow quickly; however infertility changed our plans, and we discovered the beauty of resting in God’s plans (this was not easy at the time). We had 2 more babies, one was a very difficult pregnancy and rough postpartum season in 2017. With the reality of what our lives looked like we decided it may be time to be done. In God’s perfect timing, through our grief from a monumental loss in our extended family, we prayed and cried out to God each day, we begged that we would still trust him. So we did, with the scariest and best things, He put it on our heart to try just one more time for a baby. We learned through that season that life was unpredictable, and waiting for everything to be just right (in our minds) would never really be, but trusting in God would always be the right thing. Yes, the Lord wasn’t done with us yet—and we were blessed with one more! By God’s grace, I’m a momma to five, from toddler to twenties, and it’s such a beautiful thing having these age gaps, kids every 5 years apart, getting to see them in every stage at all times. Their bonds are unlike anything I’ve seen.
Inspired by the Past, Living for Today
My love for homemaking and simple living comes from watching my grandparents. I have the fondest memories in the kitchen with my Grandma Edna, learning the beauty of a home-cooked meal and a well-tended home. My Grandpa Link’s stories and wisdom instilled in me the importance of faith, family, and making the most of each moment, and documenting the journey. I loved that when I visited them if I wanted to watch TV I had to plug it in, because they knew how to entertain themselves without it.
A Journey to Better Health
After a battle with Mold Illness in 2020 (worst time to be sick in America- there was very little community to help pull us through- yet I’m so humbled by those who showed up), I’ve learned the importance of being mindful about what enters our home. While I once loved thrifting, I now count it a joy to discover new ways to align my body with better health and keep our home simple. I have found a way to thrift things like metal or glass that can be cleaned thoroughly. I’m continually learning and making intentional choices for a healthier home and family, and hoping I inspire you to do the same!
A Slightly Better Wife
This blog is a space where I share real-life moments, encouragement for wives and moms, and the simple joys of homemaking. I don’t claim to have it all figured out (because I absolutely do not), but I believe in always striving to be a little better—more patient, more present, and more intentional.
I hope you’ll find encouragement here, whether it’s through a recipe, a fresh perspective on marriage, or a reminder that joy can be found in the everyday. Let’s seek slightly better together.

What Makes Me Smile
Life is full of little joys, and I try to soak them all in:
☀️ Sunrises and sunsets
📚 Decluttering and simplifying
☕ Black mold-free coffee (hot or iced, but never lukewarm, and yes, go google Mold-free coffee)
✨ Finding gluten-free dining options at restaurants
💛 Watching my children do life alongside each other
🤲 My husband’s outstretched hand as we sit together in the evenings and talk about the day and the future.
Oh friends, there is so much to be thankful for.
Please, Please, PLEASE understand my title “A Slightly Better Wife” is not meant to be projected out to you as a place where I have fully arrived. I am no authority on this subject, but I am striving to be a better wife, mother, and woman, even if only just slightly. ♥
