My husband had been carrying around the same wallet for over 15 years, which speaks a lot about the quality craftsmanship, but after more than a decade and a half of daily use, it was literally falling apart. Being the frugal minimalist man that he sometimes is, he kept carrying it.
I would hint at the idea of him getting a new one, linger through the billfold section at department stores, and yet, he said his current wallet was “fine”.
Friends, it wasn’t fine. This man deserved better, he just didn’t know or believe it.
Not only was it crumbling into pieces in his pocket, it was bulky, and holding more than he needed on him at any given time.
So for Valentine’s Day, I surprised him with a new minimalist wallet.
I like to have to “surprise” him because Mr. Awesome doesn’t spend money on himself (except an occasional craft beer or a round of golf).
You guys! He loved it! Like genuinely loved it. He happily cleaned out the old wallet chucking the majority of the contents and the wallet itself into the trash and hauled it to the curb!
He’s proud to pull this thing out! It’s stylish, well constructed, and carries the bare necessities.
The money clip is his favorite feature, no more digging for wrinkled bills, they’re right there! The money clip can be pulled out and used on its own as well.
If your man is in the market for a new wallet, um, or if you’re in the market to get him a new wallet, give this one a try.
I am even tempted to try something like this for myself. I mean, do I really need to be carrying an extra 10-15 gift cards to places I’ll never visit? Nope!
Also, a tip for Rewards Cards. I have the app called Key Ring. One afternoon a few years ago I scanned all of my cards into the app and tucked the physical cards into an envelope in a drawer. I haven’t needed them since! When I visit a story I just bring up the app, tap the card, and they scan my phone. So much less clutter!
