Making rice in the Instant Pot is just about the easiest thing you can make in a pressure cooker. I know I’ve shared this on my Facebook and Instagram stories, but I wanted to share it here on the blog too, so you have something to easily reference back to if you need it.
The basics:
Rice and water are measured at a 1:1 ratio and cooked for 3 minutes. Yes, that’s it!
Let’s break it down, I have the 3, 6, and 8 quarts. My favorite for cooking rice is the 3 quart, but they all work. No matter what size of pot you use, the instructions are the same.
For our family of 6:
I add 3 cups of rice + 3 cups of water to the pot.
I set the pot to pressure cook on MANUAL for 3 minutes (I don’t use the rice button) and the valve to the “sealing” position.
Sometimes I will make 2C. Rice + 2C water for just the kids and I, other times I do 4 C. rice + 4 C. water so we can have leftovers for lunch the next day. No matter how much rice and water you add, still just set the pot to 3 minutes.
Instant Pot Rice
Measure RICE and WATER using a 1:1 ratio and add to the Instant Pot liner. Example: 2 C. Rice and 2 C. Water.
Set your valve to the "sealing" position.
Set the pot to pressure cook for 3 minutes (don't use the rice button).
Tip: When it is finished, let the pressure release naturally for a few minutes, then you can do a pressure release to finish it off.
