After the kids went to bed I filled our Big Berkey water filter clear to the brim, and load up jars with our water goals for tomorrow. Now, I know this seems totally pointless when there are so many other {easier} ways to track fluid intake.
I mean even putting all those rubber bands on one jar and removing them after each has been drained would be a much more simple process with less prep work. This works for us though!
Putting your water in jars is a great visual that I pull out once in awhile. I do it mostly for myself, but the kids and hubby benefit as well. We call it a Water Challenge Day and it’s suddenly fun.
Water is so important, and winter seems to stuck the water right out of me. My skin is dry, my lips are chapped, and I know my body is begging for more fluids.
Hydrated kids are much happier kids who can stay focused much better, I promise! It’s probably the same for adults, who knows!
The standard recommendation has pretty much always been 8, 8oz glasses of water a day for an adult (64 ounces). Some studies say more if you are more active, or half of your body weight in ounces. We like the 64 ounce theory, it’s easy to remember.
Here’s what we’re doing:
Me: 96oz. (a little extra to make up for the coffee I’ll probably start my day with).
The Fashionista: 64oz.
The Ball Player: 60oz. (this is as close add I could get with the jars I’m using for him)
The Preschooler: 36oz. (She usually finishes and goes back for more, but we always start small to help her feel accomplished and motivated).
We outfit the jars with stainless steel straws that are super fun, yet easy to clean. We’ve had our stainless steel straws since 2013 and they still look like new. I am always sure to let them dry well before putting them away.
Do you have YOUR water ready?
