Prime Day Deals for the Homeschool Family

Happy Happy PRIME Day, friends! The day where Amazon.com gives deep discounts on thousands of products, and we all SAVE big. Remember, it’s

really only considered saving if you’re purchasing something you would’ve needed in the first place, right?  Yep, let’s hope I can keep that thought at

the forefront as I am seeing 40%-80% off on all sorts of things!

Well, our trusty pencil sharpener bit the dust last month, so I’m going to give THIS ONE a try.

I love that it can be plugged in through USB, as well as use batteries if we’d like (perfect for when we go RVing).  I typically keep our pencil

sharpener in the kitchen, as that’s where we use it the most, but I have a plan to plug this one into our desktop computer and keep it in the homeschool room.  I think it will go missing a lot less often! 😉

This one isn’t a Prime Day deal but definitely related… PENCILS!   The Amazon Basics brand is a line of less expensive merchandise, that doesn’t sacrifice quality.

A few years ago our two older kiddos purchased Kindle Fire Tablets with money they earned helping us lay new flooring.  Previously we had one tablet that everyone shared (which worked fine, but was a pain signing in and out of apps, and dividing time during the school day).   Each kiddo has their  own tablet with educational games they can play on it.  The benefit of each child having their own tablet is that the apps are customized to their skills,

and there’s no need to sign out between students.

I’m a firm believer that less is more when it comes to screen time, so my children do not get free reign on their tablets.  They have assigned work

and occasionally I throw in some free play time (by occasionally I mean it happens maybe twice a month at the most).  Our tablets (mine included) are all kept in a “tech basket” in the homeschool room.

There are SO many good and FREE apps available on the Kindle Fire, don’t pass up this great resource!  If you’re okay paying for apps, there are plenty of those too.  Our favorite paid apps are the All About Spelling app, Letters for Learning, (no more magnet tiles for us- we have a toddler) and XtraMath (the paid app is for sure worth the $5).

Along the lines of technology, I adore our Echo devices.  I love having music streaming quietly in the background, being able to look up facts, recipes,

and having Alexa help the kids with spelling when they’re writing a paper or in their journals.  Calling from room to room, or to our relatives with

Echo devices is another benefit!  My top two recommended Echo devices are the EchoShow, and Echo Dot.  The Show has the screen, and the Dot is the tiny speaker that packs a big punch.

We use an Echo Dot in the bathroom for setting timers for brushing teeth and showering (our water is SO expensive, and I could easily take a 40-minute shower if I’m not being careful- Super wasteful). We also use one outside of the kids’ bedrooms as an alarm clock, for music streaming and in-house calling.  The kids could also call our cell phone contacts on it if needed.

If you want to splurge, go for the Echo Show.  This one is my favorite:

Let’s talk PRINTERS:

I posted a while back about the HP Instant Ink Program. I still use it and love it.  It’s every homeschool mom’s BEST FRIEND in the tech world. No

more dried out ink cartridges, waiting for shipping or a chance to get to the store.  No more looking for the best deals, or stocking up and forgetting

where the ink is.  You can read all about the program HERE.

Right now you can score an INCREDIBLE deal on a printer PLUS with your purchase you’ll score 4 months of HP Instant Ink for FREE!  Dang, what a deal!

There are also a ton of board and card games on sale today.  Check them out HERE. That’s all for now, friends.  If I see any other AMAZING deals I’ll come back and update this post, otherwise watch for the deals on Facebook at Fb.com/AslightlyBetterWife

Hey Friend! I am truly so glad that you’re here today!

At A Slightly Better Wife, I share about faith, homemaking, homeschooling, and marriage—along with my passion for creating a non-toxic, intentional home. Life isn’t about perfection, but I believe in making small, meaningful choices each day to do things slightly better than before.

My love for simple living and homemaking was deeply shaped by my grandparents. I have the best childhood memories of being in the kitchen with my Grandma Edna, learning the beauty of home-cooked meals and a well-tended home. My Grandpa Link’s storytelling and wisdom instilled in me the value of faith, family, and slowing down to listen during the little moments that make life rich. Their influence is woven into who I am today and I’m so grateful for that.

I’m a wife, a momma of 5, and a homemaker at heart. My husband and I met young, just days after my 18th birthday, and we quickly (like within a week) knew that forever was in our plans.

Together, we built our home on the edge of town, where we’re raising and homeschooling our children while embracing a simple, purposeful life in the city.

Here, you’ll find encouragement for your marriage, practical tips for homemaking, and inspiration to cultivate a home filled with faith and love. Whether you’re looking for a recipe, a fresh perspective, or just a place to feel understood, I hope you’ll stay awhile and explore.

Let’s pursue slightly better together!
