It may be freezing outside (currently 18 degrees here in Iowa), but inside Mr. Awesome and I are are working on keeping things from getting TOO hot up in here. Cheesy? Yeah, okay, maybe so, but read on!
Indoor, or In-home, dates have been a thing of ours for A LONG time (either because we were broke {college & building a home}, didn’t have a sitter, or just needed a bit of time together without the fuss of orchestrating it all). Now that we have another baby in the house, indoor dates are becoming even more popular with us.
Typically we have a little date every Tuesday evening that involves something like a bowl of deliciously flavored ice cream and a brand new episode of This is Us, followed by an hour or so of good conversation about life and love. That’s the good stuff, friends, just being together, enjoying the simple things this beautiful life has to offer.
Occasionally we get completely dressed up fancy to cook a meal together after the littles are in bed. I’m talkin’ a suit for him and lace for me, topped off with too much lip color and perfume. It’s ridiculous and I love it.
Tonight’s in-home date had a bit more purpose. I’ve been trying to check things off of my never-ending to-do list (anyone else adore a good list like I do?) and Mr. Awesome has been encouraging me and getting his hands dirty right alongside me as we tackle it all.
Tonight we finally printed out the recall info that I bookmarked back in November and gathered up our fire extinguishers to see if any of them were on the recall list. Guess what? 4 out of our 5 were! Ahhh!
If you have fire extinguishers in your home, which I really hope you do, check to see if they are one of the 134 recalled extinguishers by visiting the Kidde Fire Safety Recall website. Don’t think your model is too old to be on the recall, the recall dates start in 1973 and run through 2017!
Once you know your model number, serial number, and date code, you can enter it HERE to see if you are eligible for a replacement. They are currently estimating replacements to be sent within 10-15 days.
So while it may not be the ideal date, we did have fun together, checking date codes, relaying serial numbers, etc. I’ll admit, there was a bit of frustration as we tried to decipher date codes using digits 5-9, rather than the whole 10 digit number. Ha! Oops! Well, once we got the hang of it, we felt like pros!
Growing our skills is important to us and we both love learning new things (no surprise we’re homeschool teachers).
Don’t worry, friends, I’ll make sure our next indoor date has some good food and music! Maybe even some dancing, because Mr. Awesome is thee best kitchen floor dancer!

The in-home date idea sounds great. With so much going on in our lives, it’s a great way to keep things fresh while not having to stress up getting ready and going out.
Side note: I didn’t realize some fire extinguisher were recalled. Thank you for that!
