Facebook’s new feature, Facebook LIVE, has rolled out and it could not be any more user-friendly!
After months of using and having a love/hate relationship with Periscope (hear all about it in the video below), I could not be more excited about this new Facebook update.
Of course I’ll still keep using Periscope, because that’s where all my mommy blogger friends are, but this gives me a chance to connect a little differently with my Facebook friends.
In this video I’ll show you how to get started!
Note:
- Keep in mind normal internet safety stuff. This is LIVE video, so you’ll want to be safe about where you are streaming.
I mean hanging out the window going 55mph down the highway to stream the sunset sounds like a beautiful scene and a bit of an adventure- but is it safe? The answer is no, and it’s probably illegal too.
- Sharing your location can also be a danger if you may have a stalker (or you could develop one)- so be careful!
- If you have a toddler in your house, it may be time to put a lock code on your phone. It really only takes a few clicks to start broadcasting live and while it may be cute to show the world their perspective, it may also be dangerous.
You can create specific groups of people to share your video with, if you aren’t comfortable sharing with your whole friend’s list, or if you think your video would be better suited for a certain audience.
If Creepy Uncle Bob (who you aren’t even sure is your real uncle) comments weird inappropriate stuff on all of your pictures then he probably isn’t the guy you’d like to have watching and commenting on your live stream from Target as you’re picking out new shoes. Major buzz kill. You can exclude him from the cut, I won’t tell.
If you run a business NOW is your time to shine! Facebook Live is a great way to share a LIVE video showcasing some new products you have in, or just introducing yourself to your potential customer base. Through a business page your post will automatically share with the public, keep that in mind.
One way to really enhance your video quality is by simply stabilizing your phone. You can view my post about how you can obtain a great tripod set up for less than $30 (update: the price has gone down since I first posted about it).
Smile, Speak Clearly, AND HAVE FUN!
