You Are Loved. Right Now. Always.

Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, it is my prayer that RIGHT NOW in THIS MOMENT you would know and believe with your whole entire heart that YOU ARE LOVED. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, it is my prayer that right now, in this very moment. you would know and believe with your whole heart that YOU ARE LOVED. I don’t know what you’re going through. I don’t know what tomorrow holds for you. But I do know this: you are not alone. Tough Days ...

Celebrate Absolutely Everything

Abundant goodness can still be found, even in the storm. It may not always seem apparent, but there is always something there to celebrate.

Why We Celebrate Absolutely Everything 🎉 Someone once told me, “You guys celebrate everything!” At first, I took it as criticism. Were we being frivolous? Over the top? Maybe. Later I realized… what if it wasn’t criticism at all? What if it was actually: “Wow, those people really know how to look on ...

Child Sized Inspiration: I Believe in YOU!

Child Sized Inspiration- Go out and spread kindness like a wet dog spreads water after a bath!

“MOM!! I BELIEVE in you!” Then she slammed the door and was gone. I stood there stunned... What just happened? Then came the tears of joy. She didn’t wait to be praised, she just said the kind thing and moved on. What a lesson. Friends, speak the encouragement. Don’t overthink it. Don’t wait for the ...

5 Tips for Creating or Organizing a Kitchen Pantry Closet

Kitchen Pantry Closet

When we built our home 11 years ago, we included a great closet in the family room. At first, we used it for storing books, board games, and all sorts of miscellaneous items. But as our family grew—and so did our desire to host friends and family around the table—we needed to rethink our ...

12 Years Ago Today I Met The Man I'd Marry

Twelve years ago today, I met a boy. Before long, he made me a wife and a momma. We were just babies back then! We had no idea how incredibly hard life would be—how we’d lay his mom to rest after her battle with cancer, how many funerals we’d attend, how many bills would come, or even how many cars ...

The Prayer Chair

Not too long ago, I spent a night on my bedroom floor, crying myself to sleep. My husband tried to comfort me, but I had my mind made up: I needed more than a quick “you’re okay.” What I really needed was hours of prayer and quiet time with Jesus. I needed to hear Him speak, to center my heart, and ...

Simple Summer

As summer nears, I always find myself making a big Summer Bucket List. I check out all the local events, buy simple crafts for the toddler, bigger projects for the older kids, and maybe even something a little ambitious for myself. I pick up new popsicle molds, vowing we’ll only make homemade frozen ...

The Simple Joys of Motherhood

Motherhood. It drains me and fulfills me like nothing else ever could. If I don’t get too caught up in all that I have to do, I can really practice being grateful for what I get to do. Today I am grateful for laundry. A bathroom floor covered in dirty clothes is a blessing in my eyes. As I pick up a ...

The Power of Words: Choosing Uplifting Labels

I truly believe that the words we use shape how others see themselves and how they see the world. When you tell someone, “You’re smart,” they’re more likely to embrace challenges with confidence. When you say, “You’re organized,” they’ll feel encouraged to nurture that trait.  On the other side of ...

Texts From Dad: The Church

Just take another look at the picture, would you? ...

What Should I Take to a Blog Conference?

I’m attending my first Blog Conference next weekend, and I already started thinking a few weeks ago about what I would be bringing with me (aside from my usual necessities, which are my cell phone, a good lip balm, and some cash). I don’t want to take too much stuff with me that I feel like I’m ...

You Can’t Give it if You Don’t Have it- So Get It!

As I got ready for bed one night this week I walked past this sight, in the middle of my living room floor.  Our cat, who we call #slightlybetterbrownie on social media, was checking out the tracks left out by my kiddos. Normally I would've told the kids to clean them up before bed, but I was away ...

Happy 3rd Birthday, Sweet Girl

Sweet Girl, Tonight I am going to put you to bed as a 2 year old.  When you wake up (I’m guessing at about 3:30am, and again at 6:30am), you will officially be a 3 year old.  Man, just when you got the hang of admitting you were 2, and not 15 when people asked, you’ve got another age to ...

Hey Friend! I am truly so glad that you’re here today!

At A Slightly Better Wife, I share about faith, homemaking, homeschooling, and marriage—along with my passion for creating a non-toxic, intentional home. Life isn’t about perfection, but I believe in making small, meaningful choices each day to do things slightly better than before.

My love for simple living and homemaking was deeply shaped by my grandparents. I have the best childhood memories of being in the kitchen with my Grandma Edna, learning the beauty of home-cooked meals and a well-tended home. My Grandpa Link’s storytelling and wisdom instilled in me the value of faith, family, and slowing down to listen during the little moments that make life rich. Their influence is woven into who I am today and I’m so grateful for that.

I’m a wife, a momma of 5, and a homemaker at heart. My husband and I met young, just days after my 18th birthday, and we quickly (like within a week) knew that forever was in our plans.

Together, we built our home on the edge of town, where we’re raising and homeschooling our children while embracing a simple, purposeful life in the city.

Here, you’ll find encouragement for your marriage, practical tips for homemaking, and inspiration to cultivate a home filled with faith and love. Whether you’re looking for a recipe, a fresh perspective, or just a place to feel understood, I hope you’ll stay awhile and explore.

Let’s pursue slightly better together!
