I have wanted bright white flour sack towels for as long as I can remember. New towels can really freshen up a kitchen. I finally remembered to throw some in my cart when I was at Target a few weeks ago. 3 packs to be exact. I gave all of my old towels to Mr. Awesome, to use for messes in the garage. I can justify replacing nearly anything if I give the current thing a new home. Even IF Mr. Awesome leaves those towels in a bag for a year or two and doesn’t use them, like what happened to my old bath towels when I replaced them with new microfiber towels.
Ah, well, nice move, right? My kitchen was looking snazzy, and I even twirled around with the towel packages a time or two before putting them in their place in the cupboard.
Nothing lasts forever. Especially white dish towels.
Oh, hey, if you’re curious what gorgeous white towels look like AFTER they have been used to clean up blueberry smoothie by a child, and ran through the wash once… They look a whole lot like old white dish towels! Ha!
I’m not even a little disappointed. Function over Fabulous, that’s my motto in this season, and I hope it is in ALL the seasons.
It’s not that I don’t WANT nice towels and things, it’s that I want my children to help clean, and sometimes that means a child grabs a brand new towel to clean up her spill and tosses it into the hamper without even telling momma. She’s quite independent, and for that, I am forever grateful.
