Where You Lead, I will Follow.
You know how God puts you right where you need to be? That’s exactly how I felt tonight.
Mr. Awesome took the day off of work and we spent our whole entire afternoon visiting furniture stores (yes, again). The kids were tired, I was tired, and we all just wanted to go home. All of us except Mr. Awesome, who just wanted to treat his family to ice cream and eat it by the lake in Albert Lea, MN.
I let him know I was PMSing (which I’m sure he already knew without me pointing it out) and I just wanted to go home NOW. He insisted anyway.
I let out a huff, because that’s how I sometimes handle things when I don’t feel like being a grown up and putting a little effort into my actions. I said “fine, we’ll do it exactly like you want to. Get ice cream, and go eat it by the lake. It’ll probably melt all over and the kids will be a mess, but that’s fine. Let’s go.”
Yeah, I don’t always speak the most encouraging words, but I want to be honest with you here, because I know you wives don’t always speak kindly to your husbands either. We all need to help each other to be better, even if just slightly.
A Kind word goes a long way…
I really tripped over my own words, because the kids did AMAZING and the whole little adventure could have been described as absolute perfection.
The wipes I had in my purse cleaned up any spills, and we got to meet and visit with the sweetest lady, named Bonita and her puppy, Annie.
The scenery was gorgeous, the weather was better than you could have even imagined, and get this… I felt so refreshed when we left there.
We visited with Bonita about all sorts of things, and topics like foster care, mission trips, and homeschooling came up. She was a real encourager and a blessing to us last night.
Wives, when we follow our husbands, and he’s following God, we can be led to the very best places.
I humbly apologized, and will continue to apologize when I screw up. Even though it doesn’t feel good when we’re wrong, it is OKAY to be corrected. It’s good for us, that’s how we grow and learn.
Oh and as we pulled away from the park we saw this building.
Take a closer look at the sign:
God is always giving us signs, isn’t he?
Think about what signs God is sending your way.
