The other night the kids and hubby had Nutella & Banana Panini’s. It was a dessert for supper kind of night because I just didn’t feel like cooking, and we all were craving sweets anyway. Two bird, one stone; That’s my style.
These were inspired by The Pioneer Woman. We’re binge watching Season 10 on Amazon every.single.day; Some episodes are being played over and over. That’s what happens when you don’t have cable and your kids love cooking shows.
On my Panini I had PB & thinly sliced onion. That’s an old favorite I grew to love because my dad loved PB & onion sandwiches. I really think I just love the idea of it and how it reminds me of my daddy. Every time I eat it I get terrible heart burn and say I’ll never have it again, but I always do, and always get warm fuzzy thoughts of my childhood.
As a little girl I can remember watching my dad thinly slice an onion and being amazed at how he did it just perfectly every time.
I still love watching him in the kitchen.
-Questions-
Surface Level: What Quirky foods combinations do you love?
A Little Deeper: What is something you’ve grown to love because your parents or someone else loved it too?
Extra Notes:
I picked up my sandwich maker from Aldi. It’s similar to this one I’ll link to below. Here are my thoughts on it; I know it’s a mostly pointless kitchen appliance, but people IT’S FUN!! I like FUN! Don’t you? You should!
We don’t eat out a lot so we do things like this at home to switch up dinner time a bit. There are so many different combinations (and things) you can make in a Panini maker. We made omelets in it on Thanksgiving. Now granted that was a little weird, but it did work!
Dare I even say this contraption might be a good gift idea for that hard to shop for family? It really might be!
My second favorite appliance in this category would be my Quesadilla Maker. We received it as a wedding gift from my high school PE teacher almost 10 years ago and we still use it regularly.
