Sometimes when I’m doing hard things I forget to breathe. Before I know it I’m feeling faint, weak, and wondering why I even attempted this in the first place. I feel burdened, totally inadequate, and like someone else is going to have to take over while I admit that I’m not cut out and fall back to doing some mundane or meaningless task. My cheeks get red, I feel warm and embarrassed.
Then I remember how I forget to breathe, and I simply start taking a few deep breaths. Before long the dizziness subsides, I feel well equipped and strong enough to finish the job.
Seems like a pretty simple solution, right?
In general I believe we think too hard about the logistics, the plan, and the details of things that we sometimes (maybe OFTEN times) forget the simplest things, like breathing.
So friends, whatever tough job you have going on in your life, please don’t stress too hard. Take a few minutes to just breathe before you get started, and when you’re in the thick of it and feeling the weight of the job, remember again to breathe. When you’re finished and you’re feeling accomplished (or maybe exhausted), just breathe.
