A small way to reset your heart in the middle of an ordinary day is to open your Bible and spend a little time in God’s Word.
As a momma with a toddler, a tween, a teen, and two adult children, I can assure you that your children will pick up SO MUCH MORE from what they SEE YOU DO than from what they HEAR you say.
Yes, Bible apps are wonderful tools. Sometimes it’s good to set the phone/laptop aside, open up a physical Bible, and take a few quiet minutes to read.
A few minutes is a good place to start, and if you have more time, that’s slightly better 😉. I know the days of raising littles are full, and daylight runs out quickly between all the mom duties.
If we want our children to grow into adults who love the Lord, walk in wisdom, and live lives marked by integrity, we need to do more than tell them what matters. We need to let them SEE it lived out in our own lives.
Let them see you turn to Scripture for wisdom. Let them see you seek the Lord when you need direction. Let them see that God’s Word isn’t just something we talk about on Sundays and sing in worship music in the car. It’s something we need every single day.
It probably won’t be perfect, and that’s okay! By God’s grace we can keep growing right alongside our children, making slightly better choices one ordinary day at a time.
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Psalm 119:105 (NIV)
You’re doing great, Momma, keep going!
