During the Passion Pursuit Bible Study, I asked my husband a meaningful question:
“Where do you think I can improve, or what can I do to be better for you?”
Now, you might be expecting something spicy, but this is 100% PG! 😉 Let me tell you, that study is AMAZING, so practical and so heart-transforming.
One of his answers surprised me in the best way: he said he’d love it if I had a meal idea ready and prepared supper at a decent time.
I paused and really listened. What he was expressing wasn’t about the food, it was about connection. He missed the evenings when we could all sit down together, slow down, and just enjoy being with each other.
Like so many busy families, we’d gotten used to quick meals and rushing from one thing to the next. This simple request became an opportunity to bring joy and rhythm back into our home.
I embraced it, and something amazing happened: preparing a meal and sitting down together again reminded us of the beauty in slowing down, sharing life, and truly being present with one another.
Honest communication is such a gift, it opens the door to understanding, closeness, and love. Listening with an open heart can transform ordinary routines into meaningful moments.
If you want a practical guide to communication in marriage, Speaking the Truth in Love is wonderful, it shows why honesty, grace, and assertiveness can strengthen your relationship in beautiful ways.
Take heart, friends: small steps, intentional listening, and shared moments can make a huge difference in your marriage and your family life!
